Ep. 106: Getting Ready for Grad School w/ Dr. Toyin

Last few days of April.003.jpeg

This week I sat down with Dr. Toyin Alli, a math professor and the blogger behind The Academic Society.

She started as a Biology major at Ole Miss with plans to be an Optometrist. Participating in programs like LSAMP and McNair Scholar Program she discovered a career in Mathematics was possible and it included earning her PhD.

She shares how she started her program at the University of Alabama with unrealistic expectations for grad school. She had bright eyes and a plan to complete her PhD in just three years! But she adjusted and found a better rhythm after she shifted her mindset about classes/studying and immersed herself in her program.

Toyin shares all the good times she had and how she is now sharing her experience through her blog, The Academic Society. She recently released Grad School Prep and Blk + In Grad School listeners can get 15% off the full price of the program ($97). Grad School Prep is a digital course that teaches you mindset, time management, and productivity skills that you need to succeed and excel in grad school.

So you can enroll for just $82 with this link: https://www.theacademicsociety.com/blk

Don't forget! She will be presenting during the Grad School Success Summit (taking place May 18-20, 2020) register so you don't miss her sessions and all the others at gradschoolsummit.com
