Episode 2: So I definitely tripped.

You ever walk into class on your first day of school, and think to yourself, “Where are all the black people?”

Allanté recalls walking into class while she was getting her Master’s and being excited to find one other Black girl, but the expectation is different now. What else is different? The way she adjusts to the heavy workload.  From creating a balance between her social and school life to strategizing a new way to handle the workload, Allanté’s first week of school has her tripping, literally.

But as a pick me up Allanté introduces a new segment, Lessons in the Trap, which are inspiring snippets from hip-hop songs to keep you motivated and on top of your grind. This week’s bars go to Yo Gotti in Rake it up. Leave it to Allanté to find encouragement in a strip club anthem.

Today’s Lesson:

“Make this money, but don’t be focused on the bullshit. Focus on what it is that you want to do that is going to create the money that you want… Focus on your focus.”
